Cornelius lives on Lake Norman, and the dents here tell that story. Boat trailers swing wide in the staging lanes at Ramsey Creek Park, tailgates meet trailer tongues, jet-ski dollies clip quarter panels in tight garages, and the trucks and SUVs that do the towing collect dings that a golf-course suburb never sees. Travis has repaired every one of those patterns, and towing rigs are a genuine specialty — many of them are aluminum-bodied trucks that demand real aluminum dent repair experience.
We won't pretend we're around the corner: Cornelius is roughly 40 minutes from our Mint Hill shop. That's exactly why mobile dent repair is how nearly all of our Cornelius customers use us. Text a photo of the damage to 704-713-4663, get a free estimate usually within minutes, and Travis comes to your driveway with everything the repair needs.
Boat-Towing Dents: The Cornelius Specialty
Launch days produce a very specific damage set. Trailer jacks and couplers put crisp round dents in tailgates and rear quarters, winch posts kiss hoods during tight hookups, and the crowded ramp lot at Ramsey Creek Park on a July Saturday is as ding-prone as any shopping center in Charlotte. The good news is that most of this damage is shallow, paint-intact, and squarely in PDR territory.
The trucks doing the towing matter too. The Ford F-150 has been aluminum-bodied since 2015, and plenty of Silverados, Sierras, and Tundras share the lake duty. Aluminum is stiffer and less forgiving than steel — it needs a tech who works it regularly, not occasionally. Travis does aluminum panels weekly and prices them honestly.
One honest caveat: if a trailer impact has stretched the metal sharply or cracked the paint, PDR may not be the whole answer. We'll tell you straight when a body shop is the better call — and when it isn't, which is most of the time.
Lake Norman adds two dent sources Travis rarely sees anywhere else in the metro. The first is the trailer itself: hitching, backing and unhitching a boat trailer in a driveway or a ramp lot puts the tongue, the winch post and the trailer fender within contact range of the tow vehicle's rear bumper, tailgate and quarter panel, and the contact usually happens slowly enough to dent without breaking paint. The second is gear loading — coolers, wakeboards, anchors and dock hardware going over a bedside or a liftgate edge rather than through a door. Both leave dents in exactly the places a car-focused technician does not think to check.
Jetton Road, West Catawba, and Everyday Cornelius Parking
Away from the ramps, Cornelius dents look more familiar. The Jetton Road corridor and the shops at Jetton Village keep lots busy, West Catawba Avenue carries the town's daily errands, and the restaurants and retail clustered near I-77 exit 28 fill up fast on weekends. Door dings and shopping cart strikes from these lots are quick, clean paintless dent repair work, and most are done in a single visit.
Lake-lifestyle households also skew toward nicer vehicles: loaded SUVs, luxury trucks, the occasional weekend sports car. Small dents on high-end paint deserve a careful hand, and our luxury vehicle dent repair work is a big part of why customers drive to us from across the region — or in Cornelius's case, why we drive to them.
Away from the water, the Cornelius garage is the underrated source. Lake households store more equipment than most — life jackets, coolers, tow gear, paddleboards — and all of it lives in the same garage as the SUV or the Tesla. Contact happens on the way past, at the height of whatever is leaning against the wall, and it lands on door edges and lower quarter panels rather than anywhere dramatic. Catawba Avenue and the Antiquity streets then add the ordinary parking dings on top.
How Mobile Service Works on the Lake
Mobile PDR needs a vehicle, decent light, and room to work — a driveway or quiet cul-de-sac in Antiquity, The Peninsula, or any Cornelius neighborhood does fine. Travis brings the lighting and tools, does the repair on site, and you never burn an hour and a half round-tripping to eastern Mecklenburg.
Hail is worth a mention too: Lake Norman storms drop hail often enough that Cornelius drivers should know hail damage repair through PDR is faster and less invasive than body work, and it runs through comprehensive coverage. If a storm catches your truck in the open, text us photos before the body shop queues form.
For completeness, the shop route is I-77 south from exit 28, then I-485 east and around to junction 44, then Fairview Road eastbound. Forty minutes each way. We mention it mainly so you can see why we do not suggest it — an hour and twenty minutes of driving for a repair measured in minutes rarely makes sense.

Dent Repair in Cornelius — FAQs
Can you fix a dent my boat trailer put in my tailgate?
Usually, yes. Trailer-jack and coupler dents are typically shallow and round with unbroken paint — good PDR candidates even on aluminum tailgates. Text a photo to 704-713-4663 for a free estimate; if the metal is stretched too far we'll tell you honestly rather than attempt a repair that won't finish clean.
Do you charge extra to come to Cornelius?
Mobile service covers Cornelius as part of our greater Charlotte area. Text a photo of the dent and you'll get a complete free estimate up front — the price you're quoted is the price, with no surprise travel fees added at the driveway.
My truck is aluminum. Does that change the repair?
It changes the technique, not the outcome. Aluminum work-hardens and moves differently than steel, so it takes more patience and regular practice. Travis repairs aluminum panels weekly — F-150 beds and tailgates are some of our most common lake-town jobs.
