College-Town Parking, Davidson Cars, and Paintless Dent Repair

Downtown Davidson's parking is charming and tight. Street spaces along Main Street and the blocks near the Village Green mean doors open into passing traffic clearance, and the lots tucked behind the storefronts fill shoulder-to-shoulder on farmers market mornings and college event weekends. Move-in weekend and graduation bring thousands of unfamiliar cars into town at once, and every year that shows up in our schedule a week or two later.

The damage pattern is predictable: door-edge dings on the traffic side, small bumper-corner dents from parallel parking misjudgments, and the occasional bicycle handlebar mark — this is a cycling town, after all. Davidson's streets are the constraint here. Main Street and Griffith Street were laid out around a college town built for walking, so parking is parallel, lanes are narrow, and a parked car sits closer to moving traffic than almost anywhere else in the county. The mix is Volvos, Subarus and Teslas — vehicles chosen by people who intend to keep them a long while — and the damage is correspondingly modest: mirror-height contact, door edges, the occasional curbside mark on a rear quarter. Campus lots add a seasonal spike when an entire college arrives on the same weekend.

When you plan to drive a car for fifteen years, repair decisions compound. A body shop repaint on a ten-year-old vehicle rarely matches the surrounding factory paint perfectly, and it introduces a refinished panel into a car that was original everywhere. PDR takes the opposite approach: the metal is massaged back to shape from behind, the factory finish is untouched, and there is nothing to fade, peel, or flag on a future inspection.
